Carpet Installation Across the Memphis East Metro
Carpet installation is the flooring service where installation quality matters most relative to price: the same mid-grade nylon lasts five years knee-kicked over reused tack strips or fifteen power-stretched over fresh pad. We supply carpet in every major style, plush, texture, pattern, frieze, berber and loop, and install it the second way, across Collierville, Germantown, Memphis, Bartlett and the surrounding suburbs.
Installed pricing runs $2–$9 per square foot including pad in this market, matching national published data, and every quote itemizes carpet, pad, tear-out and stairs separately so you can see exactly where the money goes.

How to pick a carpet style that survives your household
Fiber first, style second. Nylon is the durability benchmark, it resists crushing and abrasion best and is the default recommendation for stairs, halls and family bedrooms. Polyester costs less, resists stains naturally and suits lower-traffic rooms; its weakness is crush recovery in heavy lanes. Wool is the premium comfort-and-look choice for formal spaces that see lighter duty.
Style then tunes the fiber for the room. Frieze (tight-twist) hides footprints and wear in busy areas. Plush and texture read soft and traditional in bedrooms. Berber and loop styles wear like iron but show snags around pets' claws. Pattern styles carry formal rooms. If one carpet must do the whole house, a dense nylon texture is the compromise that disappoints nobody.
The pad decision matters more than the showroom suggests
Pad is invisible on installation day and decisive by year five. An 8-pound rebond pad under a mid-grade carpet outperforms a premium carpet over a 4-pound pad in both feel and lifespan, because pad absorbs the compression that otherwise breaks down carpet backing. Moisture-barrier pads earn their small premium in pet households and over the slab foundations most of this area is built on.
Our quotes state pad weight and type explicitly. If a competing bid doesn't, ask, the cheapest way to lower a carpet quote is the one you can't see.
What installation includes, every time
Every installation includes tear-out and haul-away of old carpet and pad (itemized, $0.50–$1.50 per square foot), inspection and replacement of failed tack strips, subfloor checks, squeaks screwed down, slab dampness flagged, seam sealing, and power stretching in every room over ten feet. Stairs are quoted per step, waterfall or wrapped, because they are finish work and deserve honest pricing rather than a buried average.
Carpet questions, answered directly
What does carpet installation cost in the Memphis area?
Between $2 and $9 per square foot installed with pad, consistent with HomeGuide's 2026 national data. A typical three-bedroom-plus-hall project runs $1,500–$5,500; a whole two-story home with stairs, $2,500–$7,500. Fiber choice and pad grade set most of the spread.
How long should new carpet last?
A properly installed mid-grade nylon over quality pad should serve 12–15 years in a family home; polyester in bedrooms, 8–12. The two early killers are under-padding and skipped power stretching, both invisible at purchase, both excluded from our installs by standard practice.
Berber, frieze or plush, which hides wear best?
Frieze, overall: its twisted texture disguises footprints, vacuum tracks and traffic lanes better than anything else we sell. Berber's loops wear extremely well but snag with pet claws. Plush shows every mark and rewards you with softness, right answer for bedrooms, wrong one for the main staircase.
Do you install carpet over hardwood floors?
Yes, reversibly, tack strips nail at the perimeter and the field floats over pad, so the wood beneath survives intact for a future owner to reclaim. We'll always tell you what we find under existing carpet first; sometimes the better floor is already there.
